Neither the state or county have funds when these animals involved become evidence in abuse cases.  Providing them with a place to stay and basic care is not arranged through the courts.  In the meantime, those who take them in have to carry the expense for food, supplies and vet care.

At any given time there are always more horses, mules and donkeys in need of shelter, feed, and vet care. Some are due to removal by law enforcement, some are saved from the "kill buyers", and some are relinquished simply because their owners cannot care for them anymore. Nektosha Rescue was formed in partnership with Nektosha Trading Co., an online retail outlet which donates 25% of profit to support equine rescue efforts.  Our goal is to provide food, shelter and health care for animals rescued from cruel and abusive treatment.
We know that these are tough times for everyone, and even tougher for some folks to take care of their horses.  With the rising cost of feed and hay, vet care, farriers, and everything else involved, we know that it just isn't possible for some to make ends meet.  Our intent here is not to criminalize those who are doing their best but having a hard time.  Our goal is to make people aware of intentional abuse, those who perpetrate it, and what we can do to stop them. In turn, we will do what we can to help take care of horses that can no longer be cared for by their owners.
